A
small, secluded lodge, upstream from Victoria Falls, set in a
tranquil grove of African Ebony trees on a sweeping bend of the
Zambezi River. Access is from Victoria Falls, Livingstone and
Kasane airport or by road or air transfers.
Accommodation
is in five luxury cottages and in five spacious open-planned thatched
houses. All rooms have magnificent views of the river and a private
verandah. All are exotic architecturally. Dinner is a hosted "occasion"
or room service.
Cottages
- Four doubles and one twin, private verandahs overlooking the
river, ensuite bathrooms, bath and separate shower, flush toilets
with views hot and cold running water.
Houses - Tree House, Bird House, Honeymoon House, Dog House and Garden House. Each has unique architectural features, four-poster oversized beds with unique and large airy mosquito canopies, ensuite bathrooms, flush toilets with a view, running hot and cold water (shower and bath). Extra beds can be provided in Honeymoon House, Dog House and Bird House.
Activities
include visits to Victoria Falls, Livingstone museums and markets,
swimming pool, grass tennis courts, birding, fishing, boating,
canoeing, and walking or simply watching the elephants, hippos
and game (not Big 5) go by.
Sindabezi
A tiny paradise island not far from Tongabezi Lodge (close to the Victoria Falls). Magnificent views overlook other islands & the nearby flood plain of the Zambezi National Park. Access is by motorized banana boat (20min) or by canoe (1hr). Five thatched chalets (3 twin, 2 double) each with spectacular views over the Zambezi accommodate 10 guests. All have cold running water, hot bucket showers and flush toilets. The island is fully staffed and a qualified guide hosts guests and is available for boat trips or canoeing. There is great food and no electricity - only lamps and candles. Sindabezi is romantic and can be used in combination with Tongabezi Lodges or simply booked as an overnight or two from Victoria Falls.
Free activities that would be virtually impossible for anyone else to achieve as we personalise and have the equipment to be able to personalise activities that include - boating for sunset and dawn cruises, bird watching and game watching by boat, or on walks. At Tongabezi trips to the Mosi Oa Tonya Game Park, to a super natural cultural village, crafts shopping, the wonderful "Tonga School", the museum and visit the Victoria Falls - these are all free. You can do the water activities, canoeing, banana boating, game viewing, bird watching, from Tongabezi and the Sindabezi.
The
extras would be flights over the Falls, micro lighting, bunji
jumping, white water rafting, and one of those superb visits to
have a brunch, lunch or high tea (with a sip of the sparkling
stuff?) on exclusive Livingstone Island
. ON THE VERY EDGE.

Lunar
Rainbow package
One of the amazing value packages that Tongabezi has on offer is the Lunar Rainbow package; four nights and five days on Sindabezi and Tongabezi that include once in a lifetime activities such as moonlight dinner on the sandbank at Sindabezi Island, exploring the Zambezi River by banana boat and the highlight witnessing the spectacular moonbow over the Victoria Falls.
But
what is a moonbow? A Lunar Rainbow forms when a full moon is bright
enough to have its light refracted by raindrops just as is the
case for the sun. Moonlight is much fainter, of course, so the
lunar rainbow is not nearly as bright as one produced by sunlight.
Lunar rainbows have infrequently been observed since the time
of Aristotle or before. Victoria Falls and Livingstone Island
are the perfect places to experience such a rare event. Click
here to download more details in PDF format of the Lunar Rainbow
Package.
